Tell me what's going on.
A real conversation, not a pitch.
This is for founder-led design and UX studios where the work is good and the commercial side runs on you. Tell me what’s nagging you – a line or two is plenty. I read these myself, and I reply. If I can’t help, I’ll tell you straight.
What you’re probably thinking
“Another consultant who’s never run anything.”
I’m not a consultant. I’ve co-founded an agency, run its commercial side, made payroll, and sold my stake. Ester Digital, grown then sold. Outreach.Software, built the business around the tech and watched it get bought before market. I’ve done the 2am sums that don’t add up, on my own money. I already ran the experiment.
“Equity means signing my company away.”
Equity is optional, it’s a minority slice, and you only hear the word if you want to. Pay me cash and we never discuss it. The honest reason I offer it: a consultant on a fat retainer has every reason to make the work last forever. Give me a stake instead and we want the same thing – your studio worth more, sooner. You still own it. You still run it. I’m the commercial engine, not the new boss.
“I’ve been burned before.”
Probably by someone who sold you a discovery phase, produced a Miro board the size of a football pitch, and was gone by the time the retainer renewed. So we don’t do that. The first call is free. Then a paid teardown, two or three weeks, and if you take the plan and walk, you’re still ahead. I execute, I don’t theorise.
